Great news! Over 20 dead in Orlando Night Club!

Orlando gunman’s father condemns atrocity but says 'punishment' for gay people is up to God
And many Christians feel that way too. They do not condone murderous violence against gays, however, think that gays will burn in hell.

Or, as in the case of the Christian preacher quoted earlier, wants the US government to kill *the gays*

Hey Ravensky, why do you hate America?

Right now I do hate the part of it that refuses to do anything about this gun violence :(

Republican Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, who has tried to turn himself into a national political figure with his vicious responses to the transgender rights issue, wasted no time this morning in delivering an apparent message to the LGBT community.

Well.... some do

This rarely inspires people to such a terrible act. The Eric Rudolph like people in the US are limited, and preachers like the above have very little influence other than fanning hatred and helping keep the burning of it alive.

I have a hard time equated Kim Davis with this shooter. Kim Davis acted unconstitutionally, and harmed people with her actions, but that level of harm was no where near the level perpetrated in the terrible attack in Orlando. In summation, these killers make Kim Davis types look like John Lithgow in Footloose, instead of Stephen Tobolowsky in Mississippi Burning.

"Tweeted as new breaks of mass casualties at a gay nightclub. Vile," one Twitter user said. "Have you no shame?"
Patrick's adviser Allen Blakemore issued a statement explaining that the tweet was an unfortunate coincidence.
Unfortunate coincidence? What in blazes would that have been referring to otherwise?! The only other interpretation was Dan Patrick was crying out against Big Church preachers, but I doubt it.

Honestly, I think posting that is an impeachable offense, if he posted it himself. It probably was some vile disturbed person who works for him that did. Doesn't help when Patrick's name is stamped on the image though.

Or it really was just a coincidence. He apparently sprinkles his Twitter with Bible quotes like the above. https://twitter.com/DanPatrick/media Halon's razor.

As I mentioned, the context of the quote has limited appeal. Any other bible quotes of his come with such a judgmental attitude? In general, most of them are feel good, god is great quotes.

Yes it does ..
Unfortunately, basic reasoning does not support your position.
Do you know anyone who is not a muslim, but says he's working for ISIS? Of course, we also know for a fact that he was a muslim, so it's pointless to argue whether his ties to ISIS (either real or wishful thinking on his part) prove it, but even we were to ignore everything else, it'd be a safe bet to say that anyone carrying out terrorist strikes on behalf of and associating with ISIS is a muslim.

Whether or not I know someone who supports ISIS is irrelevant to the basic logical fact that supporting ISIS does not make one a muslim just like support for the Catholic Church does not make one a catholic.

That's the greatest example of a distinction without a difference I've ever experienced. Did I miss the sarcasm?

M'kay.
Saying gays must be killed makes one a nasty homophobic fucktard which is not restricted to Muslims. See http://www.thenewcivilrightsmovement.com/davidbadash/christian_pastor_says_gays_worthy_of_death_at_conference_with_3_gop_presidential_candidates. As usual, basic reasoning does not support your post.

No, you missed a basic education in reasoning.

I believe I understand the distinction you are trying to make here regarding whether this was an attack against particular individuals (anti-gay hate crime) or against the US (Islamic fan fiction inspired terrorism), but I don't know if this distinction is worth the effort at this point, at least in the sense of the posting past each other cycle that is going on right now.

Reminds me of Trump whining about calling it a particular label when what really matters is that this crime was abhorrent, maybe a little bit preventable and potentially egged on by decent number of people (of all faiths) in the US being against rights for gays. People are getting stuck on labels right now.

Person A: Oh man... I was just shot!
Person B: Was it a 9 mm or 8 mm bullet?

I'm not understanding why people are trying to fore this as some kind of binary choice, it's obviously both.

ETA: Also, to all those politicians that suddenly have a use for gays, and are sending thoughts and prayers while supporting anti-gay legislation. FUCK YOU!

LD has apparently appointed himself the great decider, so he'll let us know. Simply professing the faith and attending its forums is insufficient. Pope Francis? Not a Catholic (don't let his support of the Vatican confuse you).

I thought the below article on target about just how unhinged much of the GOP has become, with a US Senator telling a crowd to pray for Pres. Obama's death (natural and divinely of course). The general populace seems to have become numb to such disgusting outbursts, ergo how Trump could become the Repug nominee. It is one thing for crazy bloggers, preachers, and general blowhards to say vile things, like wishing for the death of fellow citizen or encourage insane conspiracy theories, it is another when Governors and Congressional Critters do it without blowback.
http://www.vox.com/2016/6/10/11902822/perdue-obama-psalm-days-few
Sen. Perdue tells Faith and Freedom attendees to pray for Obama. "We should pray like Psalm 109:8 says: Let his days be few"

And in case one doesn't know the Psalm 9:8-13, and what most of the fundagelicals at such a meet up would have understood from the Governor's comment:
8Let his days be few;
Let another take his office.
9 Let his children be fatherless
And his wife a widow.
10 Let his children wander about and beg;
And let them seek sustenance far from their ruined homes.
11 Let the creditor seize all that he has,
And let strangers plunder the product of his labor.
12 Let there be none to extend lovingkindness to him,
Nor any to be gracious to his fatherless children.
13 Let his posterity be cut off;
In a following generation let their name be blotted out.
