Bernie Can't Win

If Bernie campaigns strongly for Hillary, will that pull a lot of his supporters to her?

Would you turn him down if he said Hillary over Trump - support her at all costs?

As an outsider looking in, and from someone who has an interest in politics to a certain degree. I think Hilary is home and hosed. She'll be in the White House around this time next year.

Huffington Post aggregate polls

National Democratic Party Poll

Clinton 48.5%
Sanders 42.8%

Clinton + 5.7%

Sanders 51%
Trump 41%

Clinton 48%
Trump 44%

Go, Bernie, Go!

I think Hillary is an easy opponent for Trump to defeat.

All she is is Republican-light, neo-con-light, US exceptionalism-light.

She offers no real alternative to Trump, just a watered down version of his likely policies.
Which is why Robert Kagan endorsed her.
Neocon Kagan Endorses Hillary Clinton

Americans will never elect a non establishment president. Sanders would be the best president but when push comes to shove things have not gotten bad enough yet.
Trump is therefore the best hope to interrupt the obvious and clear insanity that has intoxicated the political side of America.

Clinton and Sanders aren't all that much different on 90% of their policies and they haven't been harsh towards each other. He's done well enough to guarantee him the VP slot or a major role in her Cabinet. They'll be totally united after the convention and he'll be playing a major role in her campaign in order to get her supporters out and voting and a good number of them will do so.

I agree, but it's not my question. My question is whether the die hard Bernie supporters will rally to Clinton if he asks them to. The discussion here, and in many other internet boards and articles, is that Hillary can't win because she doesn't motivate the base. Many Bernie supporters swear they will not vote for her due to her conservatism, and they just don't like her. They will not abandon the cause to vote for Hillary. They will stay home. I'm not totally convinced regardless. Butt there is an interesting dynamic here that makes this election different from the 2000 election. Gore lost the presidency because Nader siphoned enough votes away in Florida (at least to put it in contention). Maybe a lot of those would've stayed home on Election Day without Nader in the race, but what if he had actively supported Gore instead? That may be the situation we find ourselves in this election cycle. Bernie will likely urge voters for Clinton. But will they listen to him? Especially those who claim they will never vote for Clinton? I'd like to hear from those rabid die hard Sanders fans on that issue.

I am concerned about Hillary's electability - if she gets the nomination there will be a shitstorm of manufactured scandals around Benghazi, email servers and God knows what else, but probably including her past affiliations. But if Trump is all we have to worry about, none of that will matter. I still have faith that the average American's IQ hovers somewhere near 100, rather than the 75 or so required for him to carry the day.

But yeah - I'd certainly support Clinton over Uncle Fester Cruz or Mario 'Carpet Bomber' Rubio.

When all the Republicans have left is Trump you will see many of them falling in line as they always do.

Trump, the candidate for sadists who know their support makes decent people uneasy. That's really all they want, to fuck over as many people as possible in an attempt to make their lives less miserable.

Anybody who thinks they can call this election can make a lot of money putting their money with their mouth.

The dynamics of a Trump/Hillary dog and pony show is unknown.

Hillary has no great appeal to the left and Trump has little appeal to the sane.

We agree. But I think enough people on the left will grudgingly support Hillary for her Supreme Court picks

You're assuming people will behave rationally.

Trump's whole shtick is to get people to behave emotionally.

The one Big Unknown: Will Hillary be indicted? If so, Bernie.
Indicted? For what?

Curious, how much taxpayer money have the Republicans required be spent investigating the Clintons? Has the Government spent more money investigating anyone else?

"The Republicans" are not investigating Hillary.

The FBI and intelligence agency Inspectors Gerneral are not "the Republicans".

Biden, I'd say.

I've always liked JB but I have a feeling that, with so much of his family gone too early, I think he's lost his spark. I think he's ready for retirement.

It's not going to be who you want it's going to be who party bosses want.

If Hillary goes down after winning most of the delegates they will need someone who can rally people at the Convention. It's not going to be Bernie at his current rate of winning delegates. Maybe if he comes in w/ 35%+ of the delegates he has a shot.

I would also add that such is the ambition of Hillary that she would probably not step gently aside if she were merely indicted. I also think the odds are low she will be indicted. If I were to bet, some of her aides will either be indicted or sanctioned for taking confidential information from secure systems and sending it on her system and she will plead ignorance, stupidity and it's all teh Republicanbzz!!1!! fauklt and people like Higgins will nobly defend her.

Thanks for the Civics lesson. Care to answer the question?

I support Bernie but I will gladly pull the trigger for Hillary. I was kinda' disappointed that Howard Dean didn't throw his hat into the ring. Much prefer him over Hillary.

It seems to me that if one were a truly die hard Bernie supporter, the best (and obvious) option is to turn out in big numbers to vote for a Clinton/Sanders ticket, and once she is in office, simply assassinate her, to achieve their objective of having Sanders as President.

But maybe that's just because I have latent psychopathic tendencies.

;)
