Maybe this should be under "things that Trump did right". It's fairly evident that a factor in Hungarian voters turning on their longtime corruptor of democracy, was the spectacle of his best bud's demented rampage through the middle east. Regardless, they are rid of him.
IMO that is a really big deal. For Hungary of course, but also for the EU, for Ukraine and even for the USA. Trump is a global pariah at this point and even Putin seems to be attempting to distance himself.
Wishing Peter Magyar the best of luck. He has the people behind him, and they are ripe for change.
What do our resident Trumpsuckers think about it?

Hey now...I spent a lot of time in the late 90s with Orban. It was a great DAW for it's time!

Trump should, once again, because he's yet to figure it out, distance himself from Putin. I thought he would seeing what a loser Russia is in Ukraine. It is the open relationship between Putin and Orban that won Magyar the election and a supermajority. Putin is a pariah across Europe.
It is also the knowledge of Russian interference in elections that lost Orban reelection. Interference in Romania. Interference in Moldova. Interference in Hungary. Kremlin interference in elections is assumed now. It is attached to the global far right.

With a supermajority, Orban's authoritarianism can be undone, democracy restored. Mind you, this all happened in spite of gerrymandered districts, Orban's stranglehold on the media, Russian interference, and Trump's open support.

But what really lost here was authoritarianism. Hungary was the poster child for the move toward authoritarianism cloaked in famiy values. But spewing family values while you rape the country failed.

Trump, you're running out of cards to play.

US has the Orban now who thinks nothing of democracy. Trump has nothing to do with small fries. They can become member of his Board of Peace by paying a billion USD. Does Hungary have petrol reserves, rare earth minerals? What can they offer? He is not looking for another marriage, Slovakia served him well.

It's much like how Trump has "nothing to do" with Project 2025, despite the fact he put Russell Vought in his administration.

This makes me think of the special elections in Canada today to fill three remaining seats. Trump was the reason the Liberals won... well that and the fact that Poilievre couldn't convince Canada he cared about Canada.

While Hungary isn't exactly influenced a lot by the US, there seems to be a push back on the authoritarianism again. In Europe this seems like a tug of war.

Hey now: a little credit where credit is due: Little JD did his part to help and don’t you forget it!

More specifically, Horvak Brothers Meat Auctions of Ljubljana.

Actually, Orban's poll numbers went down immediately after Jethro's visit. So maybe in the "Who's Side Are You On" category, he did his part.

Czech mate.

Orban did the right thing. I can’t believe he conceded. I really thought things were going to turn violent in Hungary. Trump won’t concede. He will do something to upend the election of 26 and again in 28, if he is still alive.

Incorrect, seeing as Trump had endorsed Orban and promised to give economic support.
I hope it does not lead to an Ukranian situation for Hungary.

What does that mean? You think that Trump might invade Hungary?
Orban leaving is good. The new guy... he leads a right-center party, so it isn't like Hungary are all of a sudden liberal territory. Not quite certain what will come out of this. But hopefully there will be follow through and Hungary starts making choices in its best interest and not Russia's.

It just demonstrates how deranged and misinformed you are.

The new guy is just a younger version of Orban. He already reiterated that he is against migrants and Ukraine in EU.
(EU migrant policies are extremely unpopular in all of the Eastern Europe, just saying)
The new guy is planning to let Kiev Regime have their 90bil in exchange for unlocking EU funds for Hungary and resist the rest of Ursula's demands.
