Yet another war, this time with Iran

The page-one headline this morning of the hideous tabloid New York Post (owned by Murdoch, of course) was in flaming all caps: STRAIT SHOOTER.

This madman must be stopped. The military must disobey orders to commit war crimes.

I don't think you are disobeying an illegal order, well, you could but if you were not following an illegal order for moral reasons, that isn't disobeying. I'll leave that to the nitpickers. Where is bilby?

Looks like Netanyahu did start it.

Key takeaways:
  • Netanyahu made a detailed pitch for war to Trump and his team in the Situation Room.
  • U.S. intelligence officials called Netanyahu’s regime-change scenarios “farcical.”
  • Vice President JD Vance was the strongest opponent of the war — and the only one to make a forceful case against it.
  • Some Trump advisers had serious private concerns but deferred to the president.
  • Trump believed it would be a quick war, like in Venezuela.
  • For Trump, it was a gut-driven decision enabled by an echo chamber that did not exist in his first term.
According to the article, as we've seen with the GOP, no one is saying no to this idiot. It is somewhat disturbing that Vance was shipped off to Hungary, unless this was planned a while ago, at the same time Trump looks to do whatever, when apparently VP Vance is apparently the only guy that actually fought against this. Also meaning Vance say anything and he can't be particularly trusted.
It had already been widely rumored that the Hungary trip was a punishment of some kind. Guess we know for what, now.

Apparently, he wasn't so much as informed of Trump's plan to announce a genocide yesterday, and found out at the same time as the rest of us, while visiting President Orban: https://newrepublic.com/post/208724/jd-vance-donald-trump-iran-attack

His first response, like many of us, was to check his watch and try to figure out whether Trump meant EST or IRST:
“But no, uh, I need to read it first before I talk about it. But here’s, here’s … uh, what time is it in the United States right now?”

It’s a little vague, but it appears, under the 25th amendment, the main person to invoke it would be the vice president. Wonder why he is suddenly in Hungary?

Of course, Vance is a vicious asshole who would never do the right thing, but Trump doesn’t know that.

It isn't Trump keeping him away, probably Hegseth and Nazi after his time Miller. They didn't want Vance being the "last person to talk to Trump".

Well, a nuclear war would be bad for stock holdings, so if nothing else, Vance has a sense of economic self-preservation in mind. I am surprised he was the normal one. Rubio? What a cuck!

If the Monster launches nukes at Iran, he will “calculate,” to the extent that his tiny mind can calculate anything, that there will be no nuclear response from any quarter.

Section 4 is untried law, possibly untriable law. We like to talk up the Constitution, as an object of public adoration, but much of its actual content is ignored in practice.

Certainly, as in the case of this war — yet another unconstitutional war.

For example, if we were to enforce the Second Amendment, we would not ignore the well-regulated militia part.

I think well regulated mi9tia meant an armed population to keep the militray from being used against the people. Given the colonial experience with he British army.

In any case, since the cabinet consists of feckless, ass-kissing cowards who are apparently not even smart enough to notice that the Monster would fire any one of them on a whim, we can forget about the 25th amendment. We’ll see what happens tonight. If the Monster issues illegal orders for war crimes, the military must disobey. I’m not confident it will.

Just so. ICE being used as a federal police agency for purposes other than its legal charter is an obvious denial of the principle at the heart of the 10th amendment as well. But the 10th amendment is seldom invoked for any purpose, and even less often successfully. Trump has ignored Article I throughout his two presidencies, without any real consequences, and now the Supreme Court has handed him broad immunity anyway. We have a surprising degree of disdain for our supposed founding document in practice, and if people are placing their hope in the notion that some hero lawyer will appear to just save us from Mr Trump... That is a pretty far fetched read from what actually happens. Us common yokels may have to follow Constitutional law, but presidents gave never felt greatly contained by it except where Congress and the court of public opinion have absolutely forced them to do so.

You suppose Tulsi regrets selling out to MAGA yet?

She has a job and good financial investments. Later she'll either be a Fox News & Friend or a lobbyist. Her only regret is the bad days when Hair Furor's dementia and flatulence combine to wreak havoc on the staff.

I call the bastard the Monster, but I think I’ll switch to Hair Furor.
It's probably easier just to say Trump. The way the cunt is going, "Trump" will be used as a shorthand argument like certain other surnames that aren't used anymore.

It's TACO Tuesday! Numb-nuts calls for a 2-week cease fire an hour before his deadline for wiping out civilization.
Just saw that news.

Should be free link if anyone needs it.

It is, of course, deeply doubtful that Iran was any more aware of this "deal" they made than we all are, but putting up with an expected bit of conceit truly is a small price to pay for the slavation of millions of lives.
